The Datafoire is sneakernet ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sneakernet )  that manifests into the installation of a stand that supports at least a computer. the stand is settled in a social gathering, a party a market a library, and through a beforehand communication work participant are aware that they should bring usb sticks with files that they would like to share. It can be a music.mp3 that they made, a comic.pdf that they found and love, a video.mp4 from their personnal library, an image.jppg from their sketchbook, etc. (oriented towards a more intimate data sharing). They can plug the usb key and share those files and in the meantime go through the different folders that were created by other participants and pick up their files.

The datafoire is a network that is independant from the Internets infrastructure, and it embodies into convivial space were the sharing to data becomes a warm and collective undertaking. Algorythmic suggestion leave place to human to human recommandation.
It is also a place to scan paper and print pdf and fill the infokiosk that can be part of the datafoire, thus moving from the digital to the paper as another way of transmitting information.

The data shared in the datafoire doesnt cross the atlantic in a quarter of a second as it is the case with the Internet, instead, it moves through storage devices that sits inside the pockets of moving humans. At that pace we could imagine that the data would be more territorialized, that it would reflect local culture, and thus, while going in another city or country, visiting another datafoire you could access  to a completely different type of data, as when in pre-internet era, we had to take the plane to find Jungle music. (This part does not suggest that the global and easy acces to information with the internet is a bad thing, it only proposes other ways to deal with it, that can cohabit

# How can it be a first aid kit ?

Obviously this offer a robust infrastructure of datasharing in case the Internet Infrastructure comes to fall, for marerial or political reasons. So using datafoire now could be a way to get ready for such transformations, learning to work along another data transfer pace and performance.
In another hand the datafoire can also strenghten the social fabric of a community through the appropriation of more intimate and free means of information than the one on the global internet
